What God Thinks is Greater than What I think

I love hearing people’s thoughts. God created us with remarkable minds and has given us the ability to process what we notice and experience in this world thought by thought. More than that, though, He has revealed to us what He thinks through His Holy Word. So what I value more than what a person thinks is what He thinks. And friend, it utterly grieves not just my heart, but God’s heart, when someone who claims to be representing Him says what they think and it comes from a place of pride rather than humbly submitting to the unchanging Word of God. God has not expanded His thoughts suddenly to include an acceptance of blatant or subtle sin. He has not suddenly in 2019 started to accept what He calls wrong as right. Jesus finds us all in our sins when we first meet Him. All of us. But when He finds us, He calls out to find Him and to follow Him into a holy, set apart life. Friend, the rest of the world wants to call you “included.” Jesus wants to call you “His.” His way is upstream. His way goes against the grain of the mainstream. His way, though, is abundant. What the world sees as less than is actually more than you could ever think or imagine when you choose to really follow Him and what He thinks over what everybody else thinks. So today, I leave you not with my own thoughts to meditate on, but God’s thoughts and absolute truth:

“As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.” 1 Peter 1:14-16
