How to stop saying, “I can’t do this.”

Emily P Meyer How to Stop Saying I Cant Do This

“I can’t do this.” If I haven’t said it out loud, how many times have I said it inside my head and heart

The weight of the, “I can’t do this,” is so so heavy. It’s often very real, too. You really aren’t as strong as the task ahead of you many times…not by yourself. But you know what? You’ve got access to S*U*P*E*R*N*A*T*U*R*A*L strength when your own power, energy, gumption, willpower, & motivation just aren’t enough by themselves.

We sing it casually because it’s been engrained in the background of our stories & what we are teaching our kids, “Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so. Little ones to Him belong, they are weak but He is strong.” This isn’t just talking about children.

No, this is talking about you & about me. This is talking about the one who is so overwhelmed with life that they just want to hide under the covers. And about the one who is in the middle of their second miscarriage this year. And the one who is pregnant, but scared. And the one who is not sure how all the bills are going to get paid. And the one who is a 30 something aunt & a sister and suddenly possibly a mom because her sister received a cancer diagnosis 2 weeks ago. This is about the one brimming with hope of nearing a finish line, but scared to death of things going desperately wrong in the last little bit because they’ve gone wrong before. This is about the one who experience deep loss a few years ago & it’s stirred up again because of new circumstances and people don’t understand why they’re upset. This is about the one who is sending their miracle baby to school for the first time & having a heard time letting go. This is the about the one who is wounded again by the relationships that are or aren’t. This is for all those whose strength is low & circumstances are steep.

This is for you. This is for me. Friend, immerse yourself in the truth from God’s Word today that, “When I am weak, He is strong,” & ask Him to, “Lead me to the rock that is higher than I,” help you “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path.” Those are just three prayers from scripture to help you stay grounded in His power over your own, but there’s so much more you can cling to in the Bible, too.

The picture of your life may be so unexpected right now. It may look like nothing but ugly or empty or nonsensical strokes from a brush you’re not holding to your canvas. But I can tell you with confidence: you’re going to see more. The painting of the picture of your life is in process. It’s not perfect right now. But the One who calls you His masterpiece? He’s perfect. And He’s offering you His strength. He’s perfecting the picture of you.

His strength transforms your weakness into something beautiful.

You are loved. And He is going to get you through this stuff. Ask Him for His supernatural power. He will give it to you.

You may be weak, but He is strong. Yes, Jesus loves you.
