Slow Cooker Chicken Philly Cheese Steaks

Variety is nice, isn’t it? I love my slow cooker, but sometimes I get stuck in a rut.  I was so pleased when I ran across this recipe, tried it, and determined it could be a new addition to our rotations! These sandwiches are so simple to make, but packed with wonderful flavors.  They work great with feeding a crowd too! I’d just love to hug whoever invented the slow cooker because it their contraption makes you look like a cook who has spent all day long laboring over a fantastic meal, but in reality you’ve let it do all the hard work while you move onto bigger and better things.  Serve these on your favorite bun (like Mel’s Buns!) along with your favorite steak sauce and you’ve got a winner for a chicken dinner!

Slow Cooker Chicken Philly Cheese Steaks

Reach For:

3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (frozen are fine!)

1 medium onion, sliced

2 green peppers, sliced (*optional- I don’t care for green peppers on anything personally)

14 oz chicken broth

1 packet of dry Italian dressing mixture

2 garlic cloves, minced

6 buns

6 pieces of provolone cheese

Steak Sauce

Directions:

Place chicken in slow cooker.  Top with onions, peppers, and garlic.  Sprinkle Italian dressing over top.  Pour in chicken broth.  Cover, cook on low for 6-8 hours.  Shred with two forks or kitchen shredders/sheers.  Toast bread with butter (optional) and cheese. Serve warm with your favorite steak sauce.

Yields: 6 sandwiches
